Gower Peninsula
Mewslade & Fall Bay
Two of the most secluded coves on the Gower coast — dramatic limestone rock scenery, tidal access and true peace away from the crowds. Reached on foot via the coastal path from Rhossili or Pitton.
About the Bays
Secluded Coves on the South Gower Coast
Mewslade Bay and Fall Bay sit side by side on the south Gower coast between Rhossili and Port Eynon, accessible only on foot via the Wales Coast Path. The combination of dramatic limestone cliffs, sea caves and clean Atlantic water make these among the most visually striking spots on the entire Gower coastline.
Fall Bay is tidal — it largely disappears at high tide, so plan your visit around low water. At very low tide it's possible to walk around the headland from Fall Bay to Mewslade. Both coves are entirely unlifeguarded and have no facilities on the beach itself.
The Coastal Path Walk
Getting There on Foot
The most popular approach is a 3.5-mile circular walk from Rhossili, taking in Fall Bay and Mewslade before returning via the fields above — a route completable in under two hours. The section of the Wales Coast Path through here is widely regarded as some of the finest coastal walking on the Gower Peninsula.
An alternative approach from Pitton Cross campsite to the east is shorter and less steep.
